FAQ
What is a coffee subscription? What are the benefits?+
A service that regularly delivers freshly roasted beans chosen by a roaster. You meet new origins and farms without choosing yourself, and never run out. Most ship counting back from the roast date, so freshness beats buying in-store — the biggest benefit.
Which is best for beginners?+
If your taste isn’t set, PostCoffee — which judges your taste via a quiz — is a safe bet. To start casually and fresh, Coffee Calotte (has a trial set); for quality from the start, Maruyama or Doi are candidates.
How is it different from store-bought beans?+
The biggest differences are freshness and information. Subscriptions often ship right after roasting, typically with origin, farm, process and brewing tips. Aroma and flavor come through far more clearly than mass-produced supermarket beans.
Whole bean or ground — which should I pick?+
Freshly ground aroma is on another level, so choose whole bean if you have a grinder. Most services let you choose ground if you don’t. If you’re getting serious, a hand grinder greatly boosts satisfaction.
Is canceling or pausing easy? Are there commitments?+
It depends on the service, but more allow canceling or skipping anytime with no minimum. Before signing up, always check the minimum term, whether you can pause, and how many days before the next shipment you must act.
Can a single person finish it all?+
Many services let you choose quantity and interval (monthly, every other month, etc.). For 1–2 cups a day, ~200–400g/mo is a guide. If it’s too much, widen the interval or choose a small-plan service like PostCoffee.
