Geographically close to Indonesia, East Timor’s coffee carries a Sumatra-like earthy depth while also holding a clean, Central American-style balance. Ermera embodies that character — and is known too as the discovery ground of Hybrido de Timor (the natural arabica–robusta cross that became the ancestor of disease-resistant varieties worldwide).
Most of Ermera’s coffee comes from smallholders producing organically and under fair trade. For independent East Timor, coffee is among the most important exports — a foundation of farm livelihoods and the national economy — with steady demand from roasters who prioritize ethical sourcing.
