About this region

i.Home of “Mocha Mattari”

Bani Matar is the very district that produces the rare “Mocha Mattari.” “Mocha” originally named coffee shipped from Yemen’s port of Mokha; Mattari denotes the top line from Bani Matar, west of Sana’a. Together with Ethiopia’s Harrar, it is an origin that cannot be skipped in tracing the lineage of the world’s “Mocha.”

ii.Dry land, classic naturals

High and arid, the region still keeps its traditional farming without irrigation. Slow sun-drying in the cherry carries the fruit’s sugars and ferment character into the bean, finishing a dense, full-bodied cup where dried fruit, spice and dark chocolate fold into one another. Around a medium roast, the deep finish stands tall.
