The Mounts Bamboutos are volcanic uplands in Cameroon’s North-West region, their highest point reaching 2,700m. In the coffee gardens spread over their slopes and highlands, the strength of volcanic soils and the cool climate of high altitude build complex cups of berry and spice. Quality here stands out even within Cameroon.
West and Central Africa have traditionally centered on robusta; arabica grows only in limited highlands. The Bamboutos highlands are one of those few exceptions — an origin drawing attention from small European roasters as proof of what West African arabica specialty can be.
