About this region

i.Western Kenya’s new face

Kenyan coffee usually means the central highlands (Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a), but the western districts along the Mount Elgon range bordering Uganda also offer fine high-altitude growing conditions. Smallholders and cooperative factories are working on quality, and the region’s presence as a single origin keeps growing.

ii.How it differs from the central style

Within the same Kenya, where the center is dense with blackcurrant, Bungoma / Trans-Nzoia leads with citrus and creamy nuttiness — a somewhat gentler profile. Medium-bodied with high acidity, it drinks crisp and easy: a fine introduction to Kenya, and a good comparison piece against central lots.
