Overview

Renacimiento is an emerging origin in Panama’s Chiriquí province near the Costa Rican border, producing high-quality lots centered on the Geisha variety.

At 1,500–2,000m, both washed and natural processing are practiced.Delicate, vivid flavor — jasmine-like florals, berry, honey — defines it, and it is a region on the rise at Best of Panama, the country’s biggest competition.

About this region

i.The next Geisha frontier

Against the backdrop of Panamanian Geisha’s global fame, Renacimiento is watched as the next great name after Boquete. Using its high country near the Costa Rican border, it turns out one vivid micro-lot after another, and as a regular among Best of Panama’s top placements and high bids, its profile has risen fast these past several years.

ii.Beyond Geisha

Geisha draws the attention, but light is beginning to fall on established varieties like Catuai and Typica as well. With the altitude’s strength and careful processing, you can find excellent lots that hint at jasmine and honey without the Geisha price — another way to enjoy this origin.

iii.How to enjoy it

For the delicate floral aromatics, a light roast with paper drip or AeroPress is recommended. Water at 91–93°C, poured slowly for a clean extraction, leaves jasmine and honey lingering long in the finish.
