Overview

Volcán is a highland origin in Panama’s Chiriquí province, standing alongside the famed Boquete.

High at 1,300–1,900m, the dry climate spreading over the western foot of Volcán Barú produces bright, delicate lots.Citrus, sweet aromatics and creamy milk chocolate sit in well-judged balance — and because the profile runs close to Boquete’s, it makes a fine gateway to origin comparison.

About this region

i.Boquete’s highland twin

Spread over the western foot of Volcán Barú, Volcán enjoys the same altitude band and favorable conditions as Boquete, producing high-quality lots including Geisha. Its slightly drier climate than Boquete helps the cherries ripen evenly, underpinning a clean, bright cup profile.

ii.Choosing washed or natural

Both washed and natural processing are practiced in Volcán. Washed lots show a clean balance of citrus and milk chocolate; naturals push sweeter aromatics and fruit to the front. Tasting one farm’s two processes side by side lets you cleanly separate the land’s contribution from the influence of processing.
