How to read this roaster
TAKAMURA WINE & COFFEE ROASTERS, based in Nishi-ku, Osaka, is one of the highest summits of Kansai specialty coffee. It began when Takamura — long famous as one of Osaka’s great wine shops — carried its wine-honed sense for reading terroir into coffee, and it is known nationwide for handling top Best of Panama lots and rare auction coffee.
A roaster run by a wine shop
Wine and coffee are structurally close pleasures: character rises from the combination of terroir, variety and processing. TAKAMURA translates its accumulated cellar culture, quality-judging culture and tasting language into coffee, designing an experience where a wine lover can love coffee too. The store itself — a large shop selling both — is rare even globally.
The shop that buys auction lots
A few times a year, the world’s best lots go under the hammer at international auctions like Best of Panama and the Cup of Excellence. TAKAMURA participates continuously and is one of the few shops bringing top lots into Japan. Drinking the world’s summit lots in Osaka says everything about the depth of the Kansai coffee scene.
Varied roasting, optimized per bean
The roast style is varied, matching the optimal level to each origin and variety: Ethiopian naturals light, Panama Gesha ultra-light, daily Colombia and Guatemala at medium — each bean with a clearly defined roasting goal.
Recommended brewing
For expensive auction lots, start straight: hand drip (V60), 92–94°C, 1:15. Then run the rest of the bag through a French press or AeroPress and another side of the same bean appears.
