About this region

i.A highland origin on the rise

The upper-Amazon highlands pair a cool climate with generous rainfall — fine conditions for clean, complex flavor. Around the provinces of Rodríguez de Mendoza and Utcubamba, smallholder quality work and traceability systems have matured, and the region has grown into one of the centers of northern-Peruvian specialty.

ii.Next door to Cajamarca

Contiguous with Cajamarca just to the west, it shares similar climate and altitude, and the flavors have much in common. Cajamarca established its international standing first; Amazonas, the newer frontier, more readily offers bright, floral-leaning lots. Drinking the two side by side shows just how wide northern Peru can range.
